George (Jock) Brown
Jock was a member of 3 Troop from 1957 until 1961, In 1962 he was posted to 11 Indep Fd Sqn in Malaya where he did additional tours to Sarawak, Borneo and Thailand. His third tour was on the assault landing ship HMS Fearless for two years. His next stop was in BAOR 4
Field and finally as SQMS in 42 Field Squadron in Hameln. He left the Army in 1972 with the rank of Ssgt.
His first civilian employment was with the British Legion Housing Association. After five years he decided to return to his trade and became a self employed builder. After only moderate success he joined the Prison service and retired after seventeen years in 1999.
In retirement. gardening became his passion and he could give as much advice on horticultural matters as anyone on the TV screens today. When not in his garden he would either be dealing in shares on the Internet or playing chess, another of his chosen pastimes.
Jock will be remembered by those he served with as a fiery Scot with a short fuse but a good mate to have around in a tight spot.
He leaves Brenda. his wife of forty two years, Andrew his only son, daughters Lorena, Linda, Elaine and seven grandchildren.
