Michael (Mick) Beadle

Mick passed away during May 2012. His military career included many years serving with 9 Indep Para Sqn and 9 Para Sqn RE in varying ranks and appointments and culminated his service in airborne forces as the SSM 9 Para Sqn RE during the period 1979-81. It was during this phase of his career that many of the younger, somewhat wayward members of the Sqn affectionately referred to him as the 'Gripper'. Mick was promoted to WO1 on leaving the Sqn and was posted to 26 Engineer Regiment in Iserlohn taking up the appointment of MTO. He left the Army in 1983/84.
