Charlie Nealon
Charlie Nealon first served in 591 (Antrim) Parachute Squadron RE, then in January 1943 was posted to the 4th Parachute Squadron RE then stationed in the Village of Glaston, Nr Uppingham, Rutland, prior to the squadron dropping at Arnhem on MondaySeptember 18th 1944. He with others managed to get back across the River Rhine during the `Withdrawal' after the battle. (Ex 1 Troop) Charlie for many years attended the Arnhem Pilgrimages.
After leaving the army he became a London Bus Driver for many years and later worked as a Chauffer. Charlie died in hospital on the 25th October 2001 in Hertfordshire.
Charlie was a member of the 4th Parachute Squadron RE (1942/4 Reunion Club)
