Roll of Honour

A Hastings man born and bred, Bill joined Airborne Forces as a conscript and served with 3rd Airborne Sqn RE in the 2nd Brigade of 6th Airborne Division in Neumunster, Germany.

He was in the Sqn Provost unit and a member of Sqn boxing team.

Sadly, Bill lost his first wife but then he met a widow, Freda and they married and took up residence in Eltham.

Eventually Bill became a member of the Chatham Branch attending all the meet­ings with Freda at his side and they both made a great contribution to the well­being of the branch.

Bill was also a member of the Orpington Branch of the PRA where he knew John O’Connor who had served with 9 Airborne Sqn in the Canal Zone. John then joined the AEA and became an ardent member of the Chatham Branch bringing his whole family to branch functions.

Sadly, Freda predeceased Bill and life was never the same for him after that.

He is survived by his children and step children. Sadly missed by them and all the members of the Chatham Branch. RIP dear friend. Blenk
