Lt Col Alec J Wright

Alec Wright was 2 Troop Commander in Borneo in 1965 and stayed on as HQ Troop Commander.
Sometimes unkindly referred to as "Cement Head" after he got in the way of a wheelbarrow load of concrete on a project (in Cyprus?).
He was also a ferocious Hooker and Captain of The Sqn Rugby team. Nice chap, all round good guy

Alec also spent time as Chief Instructor of the Field Engineer Wing.

As an OC he converted 2 Armd Sqn into 2 Fd Sp Sqn (Iserlohn).

He didn't drive but he was killed in a traffic accident on January 31st 1991, during the first Gulf War: bizarre luck.
